Product description3M™ 4229 is a double-sided acrylic foam tape made of dark gray acrylic foam, specifically designed for bonding plastic parts to metal. The acrylic foam core is viscoelastic, providing high peel, tensile, and shear strength. It ensures optimal force distribution across the entire adhesive surface and reduces point load peaks. The acrylic foam core absorbs tension and compensates for different material-dependent temperature expansions (e.g., metal/plastic connections). It also dampens vibrations and is OEM approved. Typical applications Attachment of trim parts such as bumper guard strips, decorative moldings, emblems, etc.3M™ 4229 features excellent adhesion to a variety of automotive surfaces, good internal strength, outstanding long-term stability, and very good adaptability to the surfaces to be bonded.A special property is its ability to relieve stress in the adhesive bond, resulting in highly durable connections.Adhesive strength depends on the contact the adhesive can establish with the surface. A good pressure application ensures immediate full-surface contact. To control the pressure, we recommend a test bond on glass.For optimal bonding, surfaces must be clean, firm, dry, and as smooth as possible.
